Project Details:

The Arcola Theatre is a studio theatre housed in a converted paint factory in Hackney. The theatre's ambition was to create and present a high-quality theatre with a social and political relevance to its multicultural local community and its wider audience.

The works included the renovation and development an of existing derelict building to provide a new 3 auditorium and rehearsal space theatre, café and reception area to replicate the existing Arcola theatre appeal and attract new audiences whilst not alienating the existing audiences.

CM secured the Arts Council England round 2 funding award and developed and implemented a robust fundraising strategy. Despite a very tight budget and an even tighter 3 month programme the project was delivered by CM on time and on budget. CM carried out the works as Construction Managers, and using local labour and reclaimed / recycled materials (including stripped out material from one of our other projects).
